Forensic investigation has played a crucial role in many cases, some of which have even been turned into documentaries, movies, or TV shows. For example, forensic accountants played a key role in exposing the Satyam fraud in 2009 by detailing all the discrepancies and inconsistencies in the company’s financial records and transactions. Digital evidence has been used in the case in Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commision (MPPSC) case where Truth Labs played a critical role in bringing it to light with the analysis. Other sensational cases include matters of National importance where social harmony was at stake with misuse of social media platforms. DNA evidence has been used in many cases such as the Hyderabad blasts in 2014 (where the DNA samples from the bombers’ house matched those of the accused), the Priyadarshini Mattoo case (the criminal, Santosh Kumar Singh, was convicted and sentenced to death six years after he was acquitted in court based on DNA evidence found on the undergarments of the victim, Priyadarshini Mattoo, a law student whom he raped and murdered), and many more. There are many cases related to, identification of human traffickers posing as parents of children they traffic, retrieval of key evidences in mobile and computers in cases related POCSO, Voice Over IP fraud, POSH at workplace and many more that were solved using forensic investigative techniques at Truth Labs, showing the importance of forensic science application in criminal justice system.
