WHAT CHALLENGES DO FORENSIC INVESTIGATORS FACE IN SOLVING COMPLEX CASES?

The challenges faced by forensic investigators depend on the case at hand. One example of a complex case would be in cyber forensics. Digital evidence already has various complex challenges to overcome to retrieve them, but in more complex cases, finding such evidence might be nearly impossible if the criminal has advanced technical knowledge of computers. In such cases, finding the individual(s) responsible becomes much more difficult and time consuming, if not impossible. Another example of a complex case would be one involving high profile individuals, making the details of the case subject to release on various media platforms. This can cause biases in the investigation process if the investigators have watched the media coverage on the case and thus tend to influence their investigation. Alternatively, with such high-profile individuals being involved, there might be political motives to the crime, which can put the investigators in a dangerous position as well.
