Any surface such as paper, wall, cloth, skin, floor etc. containing handwritten, typewritten, printed, obliterated, erased, invisible matter or inscriptions or marks, symbols or signs, intended to communicate a message and having personal or business or civil or criminal connotations, whose reliability and source is disputed, suspected or questioned is a Questioned Document.
In order to prove the authenticity of the Questioned Document or ascertain the authorship of the handwriting / signatures / printed or typed matter contained therein, the known standard or genuinely admitted writings / signatures of the writer or printed / typed matter along with authentic specimens or sample documents are required for comparison studies by the Documents Expert.
