  • WHAT IS FORENSIC SCIENCE?

    Forensic Science is the application of all scientific knowledge for the purposes of law, enforcement and administration of justice through use of scientific evidence or material evidence or physical evidence or objective evidence which is available in the form of physical living or no living material which is superior to personal evidence or subjective evidence that is required to prove the guilt or innocence of the suspects in criminal, civil, statutory, regulatory investigative matter and trials.

  • WHAT DOES A FORENSIC SCIENCE LAB STAND FOR?

    The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) is an organisation where the scientists of various specialities undertake laboratory tests on a variety of evidence materials with a sole objective of linking the crime with the criminals, victims and crime scene.

    FSL thus provides a comprehensive scientific service from crime scene processing to evidence collection, forensic analysis, report and expert testimony in the courts.

    There are many disciplines and departments within a forensic science laboratory viz. Physics, Chemistry, Toxicology, Narcotics & Drugs, Biology, Serology, DNA, Cyber, Audio-Video, Documents, Fingerprints, Engineering, Ballistics, Crime Scene Processing, Linguistics, Forensic Accounting etc.

  • HOW MANY FSLS ARE THERE IN INDIA?

    There are six Central Forensic Science Laboratories (CFSLs) in India under the control of the Directorate of Forensic Science Services (DFSS), MHA, GOI and one CFSL under Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) besides 29 State FSL in each state with some having Regional and District FSLs.
    Truth Labs, the first independent forensic science laboratory in India, has been rendering a wide range of forensic analytical and field investigation services for the last 12 years. Currently, Truth Labs is operating from its 6 metropolitan offices located in Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Kolkata.
