Dr. Gandhi has degrees in subjects ranging from Physics to Gandhian thought to Criminal Justice from Universities in India and abroad.

He joined the Central Forensic Science Lab, Govt. of India in 1970 and was elevated to the rank of IGP, Police Scientific Services, the first such distinction in India & Director of APFSL by 1992.

Achieved "Zero Pendency" in the AP Forensic Science Lab in 100 days by clearing all cases some of which were pending for several years.

Dr. Gandhi has been responsible for the successful investigation of a number of sensational and sensitive crime cases in the last decade in India like the Noida Nithari murder case, Tehlka Tapes case, Godhra aftermath riots case, etc.

He got recognition and rewards from various Government and Non-Government bodies including the Union Home Ministers Award for "Excellence in Forensic Sciences" and several other international and national awards.

After retiring in 2007, Dr. Gandhi chose to make use of his expertise and started two non-profit organizations, Crime Stoppers Foundation India and Truth Foundation, to enable people to fight crime. He continues to work for this cause and hopes to see a crime free society some day.
